By the end of the Qing dynasty, a renowned martial artist named Peng Xiaoxin, also known as Peng Shui Lao Liu, learned Su Jiaquan in his hometown of Rongchang and went on to become a successful martial arts examiner. He taught Su Jiaquan to many students in the region, earning it widespread popularity.
Over time, the lineage of Su Jiaquan continued through generations. The 23rd generation master was Peng Xiaoxin himself; he passed on his knowledge to Chen Zizhang, Peng Youqi (his adopted son), Cheng Bucun, Yang Chengzhi and others in the 24th generation. In turn, these masters trained individuals such as Peng Yinbing (Peng Xiaoxin's biological son), who became one of three house-trained inheritors along with Pang Yinxing and Pang Yinquan. They were joined by other prominent figures like Liao Zhenglun and Cao Yigang.
The transmission continued into the 26th generation with masters like Pang Zhiyong (Peng Xiaoxin's biological grandson), Zhang Guangcai and Xie Xiangguang receiving instruction from these earlier practitioners.
Some key characteristics of Su Jiaquan include its emphasis on proper posture ("shenzhuang"), clear distinctions between punches and palms ("quanzhang"), openness ("daikahei") coupled with a focus on fists rather than feet ("fusha"), reliance on close-range combat techniques that involve binding or entangling opponents ("juebaiti"). Additionally, practitioners employ "six bodies" movements for their upper body work while incorporating "six legs" techniques for lower body movement – resulting in an unpredictable fighting style where attacks seem to come from nowhere. Finally, footwork is often characterized by rapid advances called "caihu." Technically speaking, this school prioritizes both continuous strikes followed by simultaneous hits – integrating punches with elbows – emphasizing quickness while maintaining balance between softness and hardness within each technique.
In essence, every punch carries a hidden story behind it; each move tells its own tale as partakers delve deeper into this intricate world filled with secrets waiting to be uncovered through practice & patience alone!
