传说中的创始人陈搏 allegedly created this art after observing a snake and a hawk fighting, but many believe that this story is fabricated. Some experts propose that eight laws might have originated from the combination of Tai Chi, Xingyiquan, and Baguazhang; or it could be the result of blending Tai Chi and Baguazhang with Xingyiquan's strengths.
The essence of eight laws lies in "body harmonizing with mind, mind harmonizing with intention, intention harmonizing with breath, breath harmonizing with spirit, spirit harmonizing with movement." The first five are relatively easy to comprehend. The concept of "void" or "non-action" refers to the state of seemingly moving yet actually remaining still. It signifies achieving an automatic natural movement level before entering into a meditative state.
Eight laws consist of: one - Qi (collecting energy), two - bones (internal strength), three - shape (imitating forms), four - following (circulating adaptability), five - raising (suspended suspension in voidness), six - returning (reciprocal reversals), seven - controlling (static preservation of voidness) and eight - hiding/manifesting/hiding again. Achieving "opening/closing ascension/descent," "transformative appearance empty space," "spiritual form clarity," and "dynamic static communication."
In summary, eight laws serve as the foundation ("for body"), while they also serve as the application ("for use").
