valley's father and mother are very proud of him. "My son is very determined, he never gives up," said his mother. "He started training when he was 16 years old and made it to the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008. That was a dream come true for him."
Valley's parents remember their son as a brave child who would jump from the second floor without hesitation when he was just seven or eight years old. They also recall how their son would always be eager to participate in sports competitions at school, winning first place in every event.
Valley's uncle, who is a well-known coach of sanda (Chinese martial art), discovered his nephew's talent for martial arts when he was young. At the age of 16, Valley began training under his uncle's guidance and later switched to boxing due to safety concerns.
Valley's parents were initially skeptical about their son pursuing a career in martial arts but supported him nonetheless. His mother recalls how her son would call home after each competition, not wanting to burden them with his struggles but still seeking their support.
In 2005, Valley won silver at the National Games as an athlete representing Liaoning province. This achievement earned him a spot on China's national team.
Despite all these accomplishments, there is one thing that bothers Valley more than anything else - gaining weight during off-seasons which could affect his performance on the mat.
"Being overweight isn't easy," said his mother." It takes effort and discipline."
