By the end of the Qing dynasty, a renowned martial artist named Peng Xiaoxin, also known as "Peng Shui Lao Liu," learned Su family boxing from its 23rd generation master and brought it back to his hometown of Rongchang. He became a celebrated figure in the region after passing the martial arts examination and teaching Su family boxing to many students.
Over time, Peng Shui Lao Liu transmitted this art form to several successive generations of masters, including Chen Zizhuang, Peng Youqi (who was also his nephew), Cheng Bucun, Yang Chenganzi, and others. These masters then passed on their knowledge to yet another group of skilled practitioners: Peng Yningbing, Peng Yningshi (both were direct descendants), Liao Zhenglun (also a direct descendant), Cao Yeguang (who was also a student under him), among others.
The unique characteristics of Su family boxing include maintaining proper stance with balance between hard and soft techniques; emphasizing clear distinctions between punches and palms; employing wide open movements while minimizing leg usage; focusing on close-range combat with emphasis on binding opponents' limbs; utilizing various footwork techniques such as "Six Steps" for legs and "Six Body Movements" for upper body. The practice also involves quick exchanges between offensive moves like punching or elbowing combined with defensive strategies that are both rigid and flexible at once.
In summary, through centuries-long evolution shaped by numerous dedicated practitioners such as Shen Cai-shou's creation in Henan province during Ming dynasty times up until contemporary days where we see forms like those practiced by Liang Jing-hua who is one part out there now being called 'Su Family Boxing', it has evolved into an intricate system encompassing different disciplines which make it truly special among other styles within Chinese martial arts world!
