Legs for defense and attack, a fundamental leg technique of "The Eight Mother Legs" in kickboxing. The two techniques are executed seamlessly without pause.
Leg
I employ left stance against the opponent, who advances with their left foot towards me. I shift my weight onto my left leg, turning 90 degrees to the left around my left foot while delivering a forward punch with my right fist and protecting my chest with my left hand. Simultaneously, I hook outwards with the ball of my right foot to strike the opponent's inner thigh (Fig. 4). As the opponent withdraws their left leg and attempts to deflect my punch with their right hand, I turn back 180 degrees facing away from them while placing my right foot in front of my left (Fig. 5). With eyes directed behind me to the right side.
As they see me turn back and retreat again, they throw another punch at me using their right fist. At this moment, I transfer weight onto both legs but maintain an upright posture before bending slightly forward as I bring up both knees into a low guard position while keeping an eye on them (Fig. 6).
Technique Analysis: “Yunhuan Step & Duck Footwork” is an evasive maneuver that lures opponents into deeper attacks before counterattacking effectively by retreating backwards or moving laterally.
1."Yunhuan Step" consists of "jincheng chongquan" and "zhuantou shou." The former is designed to confuse opponents mentally by striking at different heights simultaneously above and below waist level; it aims at disrupting opponents' focus on defensive positions.
2.The latter is about turning around after punching once more then walking away from your adversary.
3.The key point here is swift rotation when changing direction which induces enemies chasing you after being confused by your initial moves accordingly making use of tactical deception methods such as deceiving enemy through feinting punches aimed directly at them’s face area causing confusion amongst adversaries leading these enemies focusing entirely upon upper body parts allowing lower sections remain exposed for attacking purposes as described within 'kickboxing principles'.
